Coronation Street teases ‘havoc’

Weatherfield is set for more conflict as Ian Puleston-Davies prepares to return to Coronation Street as Owen Armstrong, more than a decade after his character left the ITV soap.

Owen’s comeback has been confirmed by the show’s bosses, with filming due to begin next week. Digital Spy reports that viewers can expect to see him back on screen in January.

His arrival comes at a difficult time for his daughter Izzy, whose former partner Gary Windass has been sent to prison for perverting the course of justice.

Owen plans to move back in with Izzy and Jake to help the family cope with the situation, but he has little patience for Gary after what has happened.

The actor is looking forward to revisiting the character and diving straight into the drama.

“I can't wait to pick up where I left off ten years ago! It's brilliant to be back and to get stuck into a cracking storyline. Owen's back and he's still angry!” Puleston-Davies said.

Producer Kate Brooks has also hinted that Owen will waste little time making his presence felt.

His return will see him become part of an unexpected alliance, with the fallout threatening to make life difficult for several residents.

“We're thrilled that Ian is back and Owen brings a ton of drama,” Brooks said. “As he joins forces with an unlikely alliance, he wreaks havoc on the Street, and his relationship with Gary is severely put to the test.”
