Stranger Things creators confirm huge detail about season three

It's all for a very particular reason

It feels like we only just finished binge-watching our way through Stranger Things’ second season – but we’re already ready to jump back into the goings on in Hawkins.

The latest episodes may have only dropped a few days ago, but series creators the Duffer brothers are already looking ahead to season three.

And while they stayed largely tight-lipped on what to expect, they did confirm season three will feature a time jump – and all for a very particular reason.

Matt told E!News the creators were back in the writers’ room for the (already) hotly anticipated third season, as they revealed a small hint at what fans can expect.

Ross explained:

“The kids are growing up.

“It would be a little silly if we just started right after this ended because they look so old, already just seeing them here I’m like, ‘Oh my god.’ They just grow so fast.”

They also said that they can’t pinpoint exactly how long the popular Netflix series will last – despite the rumours of it ending after season four.

Ross said:

“We don’t actually know.

“I think, you know, four to five seasons is likely where we’ll end up, but who knows? I mean, none of this official, and we know where we want to go.

“We’re trying to figure out still how long it’ll take to get there, so we’ll see.”

Matt agreed, adding:

“It’s hard, like four seems short, five seems long.

“So I don’t know what to do.”

And executive producer Shawn Levy weighed in on the possibility of seeing more of Eleven’s more unusual family members in the future.

He added:

“I think we’ve clearly implied there are other numbers, and I can’t imagine that the world will only ever know Eleven and Eight.”
