Stereophonic drummer Jamie Morrison was rushed to hospital just minutes before he was due to perform on stage on Monday evening.

Morrison, who was touring with current band 86TVs, was due to perform at Rescue Rooms in Nottingham.

However, the band were forced to cancel the gig at the last minute after Morrison was rushed to hospital.

There, he was advised by doctors to not perform any shows this week.

86TVs, which Morrison is a part of alongside The Maccabees members Hugo and Felix White and their brother Will, said they were “heartbroken” to cancel the shows.

In a statement on social media, the band wrote: “We had quite a dramatic day yesterday when, minutes before doors opened in Nottingham, Jamie was rushed into hospital.

“He is still in there and has been strongly advised by doctors to not attempt to do the shows this week.”

86TVs, who Morrison was touring with, posted the following statement on Instagram (86tvsband/Instagram)

They added: “We are all heartbroken about this – the shows on this run really have been our best ever – but obviously health comes first. Please send your love and get wells to one of the best to ever do it.

“Huge apologies to anyone who has made plans for these shows, especially with long distance travel. We know there are a number of you that have had plans around this for a long time and were planning on sending off this record with us this week.

“We love you and thank you for all the support. Please contact your point of purchase to arrange a refund. x”

Many took to the comments to send their well wishes to Morrison.

One wrote: “Wishing you a speedy recovery, lots of love’; ‘The happiest drummer in all the world. Sending lots of positive vibes for a speedy recovery x.”

Another said: “Love you Jamie! Wishing you a safe and speedy recovery!”
