Sid from Skins has ditched the beanie and is looking very hipster nowadays

James Dawson

He’s had a career change, but anyone who’s seen the show won’t be surprised by his new job.

For people of a certain age, Skins was a blueprint of the life you wanted to live as a teenager. The episodes are available to watch on Netflix and although you might think the show would be quite dated, the writing really holds up a decade on, despite it, admittedly, being a little cringey.

Many of the actors featured in the show have gone on to have successful acting careers.

Daniel Kaluuya, who played Posh Kenneth, bagged himself an Oscar nomination earlier this year. Nicholas Hoult has had a string of commercial successes including, Clash of the TitansX-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Anwar Kharral featured in Slumdog Millionaire and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. And Hannah Murray is now in Game of Thrones.

But not every member of the cast ended up in Hollywood. Mike Bailey, who played Sid Jenkins, ended up pursuing a course away from the limelight. It’s reported that he is now a drama teacher, although he hasn’t given up on acting completely.

His most recent role was in crowd funded project Hers & History and judging by his headshot, he’s now looking a lot more hipster than geek.

He recently told the Radio Times: “Ten years ago I never thought I’d still be talking about it, but [Sid] still does pop up every now and again. I mean, it’s always kind of been there. It’s kind of fizzled out over the years, but I mean, it was always a good thing.”
