It’s been described as Ryan Gosling’s ‘most accomplished comedic work yet’

Ryan Gosling‘s new comedy action film has debuted with an impressive score of 90 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.

No sooner has he finished telling us all that he is Kenough, the Canadian actor is back with a new film, The Fall Guy.

You can watch the trailer below.

The Fall Guy sees Gosling play Colt Seavers, a film stuntman whose specialized training comes in handy when he gets roped into solving a mystery.

The all-star cast includes Emily Blunt as camera operator Jody Moreno, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as obnoxious actor Tom Ryder and Winston Duke as Colt’s best friend and stunt coordinator.

Whilst you may think this sounds like a film with all the makings to be, let’s be honest, a bit crap, you might want to think again.

Initial reviews for The Fall Guy have been largely positive, and it currently holds a Rotten Tomatoes score of 90 per cent (based on 20 reviews).

IGN said that whilst the film may be “wanting in some regards”, it has “flair” and “oozes star power.” The review also praised Gosling’s performance as “his most accomplished comedic work yet.”

Rolling Stone wrote: “This adaptation of the 1980s TV show has car chases, explosions, fights and other action-movie staples. But all it really needs is Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.”

In another positive review, the Hollywood Reporter described The Fall Guy as a “rare big studio film that feels human,” highlighting the performances of Gosling and Blunt as “a true delight” and praising the film for its “genuine heart.”

And in a four-star review, the Guardian described the movie as a “fizzy, funny, convincingly romantic delight, a tribute to the craft of making big movies with big stunts that is heartfelt in its appreciation without taking itself too seriously.”

The Fall Guy is released in cinemas in the UK on May 2, 2024.
