Runner tackles 1,000-mile challenge dressed as Forrest Gump

Tom Victor

A British runner has completed a marathon every day for an entire six weeks – all while dressed as Forrest Gump.

Ewan Gordon, or ‘Ewan Forrest Gordon’ as he is known on his Facebook page, has covered more than 1,000 miles during the challenge, running the length of the country from John O’Groats to Land’s End.

His efforts have helped raise upwards of £10,000 for various charities relating to rare disorder Cockayne Syndrome, after he met a sufferer of the life-limiting condition at his local church in Oxfordshire.

“Like Forrest Gump, I run because I feel the need to and I will stop when my work is done,” Gordon wrote on his JustGiving page.

Gordon is not the first Brit to be inspired by the Oscar-winning film, with former soldier David Moretta undertaking a mammoth 350-mile challenge in one go.

This barman went a wee bit further and ran round the entire world in a record 621 days.

However, he might be the first to go to these lengths actually dressed as the iconic character.
