Henry Nowak’s killer Vickrum Digwa has had his minimum sentence increased to 25 years after an appeal to shorten it failed.
Vickrum Digwa, 23, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years in June after stabbing Nowak to death in Southampton on 3 December last year.
Digwa lied to police after the he killed Nowak, claiming to be a victim of a racist attack.
Digwa appealed today against his sentence, arguing it was "manifestly excessive".
However, instead of having his sentence shortened, judges at the Court of Appeal ruled that the initial setence was "unduly lenient" and that he should serve a minimum of 25 years in jail.
