It’s one of few TV shows that gets consistently better the more it goes on.
Well, that can only mean great things for Peaky Blinders, probably the Beeb’s best binge-watching show of this year. It’s going to be returning to our screens for a further two seasons thanks to the success of its ratings on BBC 2 this year.
The post-World War I Birmingham street gang, lead by Cillian Murphy, is so engaging that the show may also be commissioned for its very own movie adaption, possibly even starring Julia Roberts.
The third series – airing currently – will be made available on Netflix from June, so there’s plenty of time to catch up if you haven’t already. The show is expected to come back by 2018 at the latest.
Show runner and original creator Steven Knight told the Hollywood Reporter that he was “delighted” the show had found it’s audience:
“I am genuinely thrilled at the response to the third series of the show. The prospect of writing series four and five is truly exciting. This is a real passion project for me and I look forward to telling more stories of the Shelby family. If the first series was about diagnosis and denial, then the second series is about the journey that is undertaken when you ‘go public’ about the fact that your child is different.”
The cast for this series includes Paddy Constantine, Tom Hardy, Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, Sophie Rundle and Joe and Finn Cole.
