B&M stores: seven new shops opening before Christmas

Homenews

Christmas comes early for shoppers

Shoppers will have seven more B&M stores to visit before Christmas, as the discount retailer rolls out a fresh wave of openings across the UK.

The new branches are planned for Colchester, Kingswinford, Stirling, Middleton, Southport, Rayleigh and Newport on the Isle of Wight.

The first shops are expected to open on 27 November, with the final one due to launch on 5 December, according to the Mirror.

B&M has already added to its estate this month. Its Newtown store in Wales reopened on 7 November following a major refurbishment, which included work on the 22,000 sq ft premises.

The latest expansion comes as the retailer works to regain momentum in the discount market after a difficult year.

It issued a profit warning in January and has since increased its use of discounts to clear excess stock.

B&M hopes to restore growth after difficult year

The company is also trying to make its prices more competitive through a 'back to basics' strategy launched in October 2025.

B&M said it was "confident the actions we are taking can restore sustainable like-for-like growth at B&M UK over the next 12 to 18 months."

The company is also reportedly interested in acquiring parts of Poundland, which has been struggling financially and facing the threat of administration.

Any potential deal would come as the two discount retailers compete for shoppers looking to keep their spending down.
