MrBeast asks to be Twitter CEO

Stranger things have happened

MrBeast has asked whether he can be the new CEO of Twitter after Elon Musk announced he would be stepping down from the role.

Earlier this week, Musk confirmed he would be abiding by the results of a poll he ran asking Twitter users whether he should carry on his role as Twitter CEO.

The platform has been riddled with problems ever since the Tesla CEO completed his purchase of the social media site in October, with many of the company’s top brass walking out after he gave them a ‘hardcore’ work ultimatum.

Taking to Twitter in the early hours of Wednesday morning he confirmed he will step aside as CEO after 57.5 percent of users expressed a desire for him to leave.

Musk tweeted: “I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software and servers teams.”

And YouTuber MrBeast wasted no time in throwing his hat into the ring.

The YouTuber, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, asked if he could replace Musk, posting on Twitter: “Can I be the new Twitter CEO?”

And Musk didn’t rule it out.

He replied: “It’s not out of the question.”

MrBeast might have some competition though, with MySpace founder Tom Anderson also enquiring about the availability of the role at Twitter.

At this stage, it’s anyone’s guess as to who will take over as the new CEO, with Musk having said that “no one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive”, adding that “there is no successor.”
