Fans are not happy with Matt (Picture: ITV)[/caption]
While hanging out in the camp, radio DJ Chris Moyles asked Hancock: "What’s the plan, come out of here, write a book?”
The MP responded to reveal that he was already a few steps ahead of that, saying: “I’ve just finished a book - Pandemic Diaries. Does what it says on the tin.”
Hancock described the book as 'totally' warts and all, saying it 'tells the story straight' and describing the situation as one that 'needs telling'.
"Also, there’s going to be an inquiry. That will tell the story straight as well," he added.
But social media followers were not buying his redemption tale.
"If Matt Hancock wanted forgiveness he'd be earning it by working hard for his constituents, not taking a huge paycheck [sic] to squeeze out a few tears on national television and promoting his book. He's literally continuing to profit off his negligence," one person wrote on Twitter
Another commented: "I’m in total disbelief that Matt Hancock has gone onto I’m a Celebrity essentially to promote a book he’s written about him breaking the law. Profiting off not doing his job properly and cheating. Unbelievable."

Pandemic Diaries: The inside story of Britain's battle against Covid has been co-written by Hancock and journalist Isabel Oakeshott, and is currently set to be released next month.
A description of the book reads: "This unique book, based on the author's contemporaneous records of those extraordinary months, candidly recounts first-hand the most important events and decisions as they unfolded throughout this unprecedented global emergency.
"Pandemic Diaries provides the definitive account of Britain's battle to turn the tide against Covid-19. For the first time, Hancock reveals the crucial moments of the struggle to save lives and the race to develop the vaccine. The MP for West Suffolk gives his unique perspective on how the NHS rose to the challenge, recognising the incredible hard work and sacrifice of so many, and offers an honest assessment of the lessons we need to learn for next time - because there will be a next time."
