‘Debbie’s Angels’ team up for a special Corrie birthday mission

A birthday project brings Debbie Webster and a group of familiar faces together in a special Coronation Street episode next week, as they prepare a surprise for Carl’s 40th.

Debbie wants to mark the milestone with a photo album celebrating her son’s life, so she asks five friends to help put it together.

Sally Metcalfe, Glenda Shuttleworth, Abi Webster, Christina Boyd and Bernie Winter-Alahan take on the task, becoming known as “Debbie’s Angels”.

Their mission involves sorting through a box of photographs spanning years of memories. The women spread the pictures across Debbie’s living-room floor and begin choosing which ones should make it into the finished book.

It is the first time the five have been brought together on screen as a group.

The occasion, however, is set to become less straightforward than Debbie had hoped. The episode preview promises “chaos”, but the soap has yet to reveal what causes the trouble.

Ronnie seeks support as Debbie’s dementia storyline continues

The special arrives as Debbie continues to navigate her early-onset vascular dementia diagnosis, first confirmed in April 2025.

Her health concerns began with blackouts and a fall, which she initially believed were linked to the menopause. Further examinations at a private clinic eventually led to the diagnosis.

Since then, Debbie’s storyline has taken several difficult turns. Her condition worsened during a period in prison, where she was jailed over the death of vicar Billy Mayhew.

Although Debbie was held responsible, Carl had actually been behind the wheel during the fatal crash.

Her personal life has also been affected. Debbie accused her husband Ronnie Bailey of being unfaithful, despite the allegation being unfounded.

Ronnie has since started attending a dementia support group as he tries to understand and cope with her condition.

Against that backdrop, the photo-book project gives Debbie a chance to celebrate Carl’s birthday with people close to her, while revisiting some of the family memories they have built together.
