The Conservative leadership candidate used to work on GMTV with Lorraine
Watch this clip of Lorraine Kelly being asked about Esther McVey live on Good Morning Britain and try not to cringe.
The pair used to work together on GMTV, so when McVey made an appearance alongside Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid and they lived linked to Lorraine, which airs after GMB.
“Do you remember Esther McVey from her GMTV days?” Reid asked Lorraine.
To which she responded: “Yeah, yes I do. OK, coming up after half past eight…”
Piers, spotting that Lorraine had skipped the question, followed it up, asking: “So you got on with Esther then, Lorraine?”
She replied: “I don’t remember love, I don’t remember at all, it was an awful long time ago.”
Morgan then joked if “looks could kill, she’d be six feet under”, adding he would “love to hear the backstory”.

Later, asked what had happened between the pair, McVey told ITV’s political correspondent Paul Brand: “Well, we used to share a dressing room… and she used to be partnered with Eamonn Holmes and then I was promoted to be partnering with Eamonn Holmes.”
