London’s last video game arcade crowdfunds battle to stay alive

Tom Victor

They were a staple of the 80s and 90s, but gaming arcades are almost extinct these days.

In fact, just one dedicated arcade remains in London, and it is battling to keep going after losing thousands of pounds in a break-in.

The owners have set up a crowdfunding page to replace consoles and TVs stolen from the venue, in Acton, and are well on the way towards reaching their target.

The campaign has the support of influential figures such as Gameswipe presenter Charlie Brooker, who noticed the irony of it all.

Still, it looks like it is far from game over for the Heart of Gaming.
