Lennon? Klopp? JOE chat to Kasabian about who’ll be the new Leicester boss…

Kasabian were on top form as winners of Best Group at the Silver Clef Awards – but they had more than just music on their minds.

The Leicester band were also pretty perplexed about who is going to be the next Leicester City boss, after Nigel Pearson was shown the door this week.

Serge Pizzorno told JOE: “If I had to put money on it, it would be Neil Lennon, which would be ace – if I can’t have Jurgen Klopp that is.

“Neil actually came to one of our first gigs in 2003 so it’s good he’s a fan. I like him.”

The awards ceremony is held in aid of music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins, who work with people with a range of conditions including autism, dementia, depression and physical and learning disabilities.

After picking up their gong, Kasabian thanked fellow Silver Clef winners Primal Scream for inspiring them when first started out.

On stage at London’s Grovesnor Hotel, guitarist Serge said: “We want to thank Primal Scream for releasing XTRMNTR (Exterminator) – without that we might not have been here.”

They also touched upon the future of music and how important it is for the physical album to survive.

“We have to do whatever we can for the album for stay,” added Serge. “We’d be picking up best trolley collectors at Quicksave otherwise.”

Frontman Tom Meighan finished by kissing award host Gabby Roslin and, judging by her blushes, he made her day.
