Jurassic World publicity stunt backfires as ‘dinosaur’ is unveiled in Wales

Tom Victor

It was meant to be a bit of harmless fun to mark the release of Jurassic World, but someone had to take it too far…

Universal Pictures flooded London’s Waterloo Station with life-size model dinosaurs ahead of the sequel hitting UK cinemas this week.

However an elaborate series of Chinese whispers has led to Welsh scientists misinterpreting the creatures for real dinosaurs, announcing the first ever ‘discovery’ of a carnivorous dinosaur in the country.

Now they are in too deep, as those who know the truth are too embarrassed to tell curators at the National Museum Wales in Cardiff, where it is on display.

If only dinosaur supervisor Phil Tippett had been around to let them down gently.
