Johnny Depp says he cooked waffles for his fans as he arrives at courthouse

We wouldn’t be surprised by anything at this point

Johnny Depp claimed he made his fans waffles to help sustain them for another day of cheering him from the roadside, as he arrived at court for the fifth week of his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard, Thursday.

The 58-year-old was met with the usual chorus of cheers from die-hard fans at the Virginia County Courthouse, and as news cameras recorded his exit from his SUV, Depp quipped: “I just made breakfast for all of them this morning… waffles.”

Depp’s fans and supporters later clarified that the actor was joking, although, given the stories we’ve all heard the last few weeks, the waffle story sounds almost believable.

Notwithstanding, a group of supporters told Fox 5 Washington DC they were delighted to see “Johnny so happy” and one joked that had the star actually served them up some breakfast she would “preserve it – I would put in resin and keep it forever”.

Thursday’s proceedings, which marks day 19 of the trial, were held up by a late juror but still managed to get underway not long after the scheduled 9am start (local time) and after Depp supporters greeted Heard and her team with boos upon their arrival.

Depp has been warmly received throughout proceedings, despite the allegations being levelled at him and having earlier lost proceedings against The Sun.

In contrast, the 37-year-old Aquaman actor has had a bumpy ride and has even been accused of “performing” on the stand.
