‘She can say what she observed!’
Amber Heard’s lawyer struggled to hide her frustration on Monday during one exchange in which Johnny Depp’s legal team repeatedly objected to testimony about the actor’s mental health.
Heard took the stand on Monday for a third day of testimony as the trial resumed after a week-long recess.
The 36-year-old was asked to describe to the jury what was going on between her and Depp in their relationship in January and February 2015.
Heard began to talk about Depp’s mental health, prompting a number of objections from his lawyer on the grounds of speculation and hearsay.
Interrupting Heard’s claim that Depp had “stopped communicating with the medical team he had hired” to help him with his sobriety, Camille Vasquez said: “Objection, cause for speculation.”
Vasquez then objected to more claims from Heard, such as Depp having hallucinations and that it “looked like his mental health was falling apart.”
As the objections racked up – with the judge sustaining them each time – Heard’s lawyer can be seems to become increasingly frustrated.
When she asks her client “what did you observe that led you to believe that his [Depp’s] mental health was falling apart,” Vazquez objects for a fourth time in less than a minute, prompting Heard’s lawyer to respond: “She can say what she observed!”

Depp is currently suing his former wife Heard for defamation over a Washington Post op-ed she wrote in 2018 in which she discussed the subject of domestic abuse.
Depp’s team argue that the piece falsely implies that Heard was physically and sexually abused by Depp while they were married from 2015 to 2017. He is seeking $50m in damages.
He denies ever abusing Heard.
Heard is in turn suing her former husband, accusing him of orchestrating a “smear campaign” against her and labelling his lawsuit as a continuation of “abuse and harassment.”
She has asked for immunity from Depp’s complaint, and $100m in damages.
