Jeremy Paxman is to host Channel 4's election night coverage alongside David Mitchell in a major coup for the channel...

Mitchell was on hosting duties in 2010 for the last general election, when he was joined by co-hosts Jimmy Carr, Lauren Laverne and Charlie Brooker. It was strange mix of political humour and normal scheduling, with the likes of Fonejacker and Come Dine With Me interrupting the programme. This time round the show has added gravitas and news credentials with Paxman joined by Channel 4 News big guns Gary Gibbon and Cathy Newman. But there's still plenty of comics involved, with the likes of Aisling Bea, Adam Hills and Romesh Ranganathan providing the topical laughs. The channel promises an alternative 'no holds barred, sideways look' at the night's events, and the show will air on May 7. Obviously. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XcU_dFefyU
