Things are about to get very interesting.
A Lannister always pays his debts and we’ll always provide a spoiler warning.
In terms of what unfolded during The Queen’s Justice, it was almost impossible to shake the sense that things have come full circle.
Jaime Lannister exorcised the ghost of a previous military failure by using Robb Stark’s own tactics to his benefit by taking Highgarden.
Elsewhere, Cersei exacted brutal revenge on Ellaria Sand by using the same method that the Dornish ruler had used to murder Myrcella. Tyrion got to piss off his father’s legacy by using his expert knowledge of Casterly Rock’s sewers to take the Lannister home (although that was a trap) and Jon Snow’s hidden Targeryn past was mentioned as he sought a more secure future with Dany.
In terms of character development, it was also nice to see Tyrion finally returning to what he does best – talking to people – and Jaime getting back on the battle field at the head of the Lannister forces.
Things were ticking along nicely for Team Cersei until those fatal final moments because despite killing Olenna Tyrell, Jaime’s allegiance to Cersei may have been thrown into some disarray.
Granted, we already know this theory about the valonqar prophecy, but after Olenna confessed to killing Joffery at the Purple Wedding, this revelation might also have another implication.
Jaime now knows that that Tyrion is 100% innocent of this crime – despite the fact that Tywin and Cersei were hellbent on killing him.

As book readers will know, Tyrion’s escape from King’s Landing – and the death of Tywin – was portrayed differently in the show, but this revelation is bound to have a profound impact on Jamie and how he deals with his family members.
Jaime has always had a soft spot for Tyrion but it’s highly unlikely that Cersei will accept the news that Tyrion and Sansa are innocent of killing Joffrey.
Despite the fact that the brother and sister were getting ‘familiar’ with each other in the recent episode (cough, cough), this news could be a breaking point in the relationship between the two.
Granted, Tyrion still killed their father, but we’re curious to see how Cersei will take the news of this latest twist.

It’s also worth noting that the deaths of Ellaria Sand and her daughter Tyene are eerily similar to how the Mad King killed Rickard and Brandon Stark.
Before Jaime stabbed him in the back, the Mad King executed both members of House Stark in a way that’s similar to how the ladies of Dorne perished.
Lord Rickard was suspended from the rafters of the throne room as a fire was lit beneath him. As he burned, Brandon had a leather cord attached to a strangulation device that was wrapped around his neck.
For an extra sadistic kick, a sword was placed on the floor just out of Brandon’s reach. In a desperate bid to reach it and save his father, he ultimately strangled himself. Rickard was burned alive in his own armor.
Will Jaime be adding Queenslayer to his infamous list of titles? We shall see.
