Netflix has announced that the upcoming sixth season of House Of Cards would be the show's last, but apparently, that decision was already made months ago due to dwindling viewing figures.
Many believed that the show had been cancelled in light of the allegations made against Kevin Spacey, regarding sexual advance towards actor Anthony Rapp when Rapp was 14 years old, with the show's creator releasing a statement on the incident himself, but this does not seem to be the case.
Variety is now reporting that Netflix are looking to develop several spin-offs of the hit show, with one confirmed potential show revolving around political aide Doug Stamper (played by Michael Kelly), set to be written by Eric Roth, who was executive producer for the first four seasons of House Of Cards.
There are at least two other spin-offs reportedly also in the works, although details on those have yet to be released, with many speculating one will focus on Claire Underwood (Robin Wright).
Variety reached out to Netflix for an official statement regarding the new spin-off series, but received no reply.
The sixth and final season of House Of Cards is still in production, with a release date expected in February 2018.
