Hairy Biker Dave Myers has reached a milestone in his battle against cancer - he got back on his beloved motorbike again.
The 65-year-old recently gave an update on his recovery after chemotherapy left him unable to stand or walk.
The telly-favourite revealed last year that he was undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. He returned to breakfast TV, along with best best Si King, at the end of April to update fans on his condition. Myers and King joined This Morning's cooking segment.
Having learnt to walk again, Myers underwent physiotherapy to prepare him for getting back on his beloved motorbike.
In a new update, The Express reported the chef as saying: “It’s been hard but I’m not the only one and I’m getting through it and I’m back at work.
“I’ve had to learn to walk again and ride my bike again, and to get on my bike again with Kingy in the sunshine brought tears to both our eyes.”
King was full of praise for his mate, telling The Yorkshire Post: “He’s a proper scrapper and he’s on good form."
He continued: "It’s been an emotional rollercoaster for everybody who loves and cares about Dave.”
Later this month the Hairy Bikers are due to make a return to the Yorkshire Dales Food & Drink Festival.
King was forced to appear at the festival alone last year following Myers' diagnosis, so their return together is expected to be emotional.
Myers added to the Post: “I had to miss it last year and I was gutted.
"There’s a lot of good feeling for the Bikers’ and if I don’t end up blubbing I’ll have a grin on my face from ear to ear.”
Speaking to The Times last month, he said: “I’ve had 30 lots of chemo, spread over three weeks and then a week off. It’s going the right way." The Northerner added that his doctors believe that can turn the last bit of his cancer “off with radiotherapy”.
