Netflix has just added the ‘best action series ever’

Stephen Porzio

Its first two seasons are streaming on Netflix now as its third season is in the works.

Gangs of London, the beloved British action thriller series, has just had its two seasons added to Netflix.

The Sky original show takes place amidst the criminal underworld of present-day London.

Particularly, it details the power struggles that kick-off when Finn Wallace (Colm Meaney) – the city’s most powerful criminal – is killed.

Also starring Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders), Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones), Narges Rashidi (Under the Shadow), Paapa Essiedu (The Lazarus Project), Sope Dirisu (Slow Horses) and Valene Kane (The Fall), Gangs of London was created by Gareth Evans and Matt Flannery – best known for their work on the legendary action franchise The Raid.

Along with Evans, acclaimed genre filmmakers Corin Hardy (The Hallow) and Xavier Gens (Under Paris) also directed episodes of the show.

And Gangs of London has received a huge amount of praise over the course of its two seasons to date for its brutal, visceral action set-pieces – with website Tom’s Guide even dubbing it “the best action-thriller show ever”.

You can read a sample of the glowing reviews for Gangs of London season one below:

ABC Radio (Australia): “Not for the faint hearted, Gangs of London is tough as nails and addictive as hell.”

The Atlantic: “Gangs of London exists on a fully realised plane of its own, where brutality is power, death is inevitable, and even the pigeons are on cocaine. I love it. I cannot get enough of this show.”

Globe and Mail: “Not for those who don’t like brutal violence portrayed with gusto. But for those who can take it, the series is really an intriguing chess game about seizing power.”

Sydney Morning Herald: “The highly choreographed action scenes are nothing short of stunning, but series creators and action-movie veterans Gareth Evans and Matt Flannery know that it’s the characters that really do the heavy lifting.”

Times (UK): “GoL was clearly expensive to make. It is also very, very violent, and in creatively balletic ways.”

A third season of Gangs of London is in the works now, which sees Kin co-creator Peter McKenna joining the writing staff on the programme.

And ahead of its release, the first two seasons of the action thriller show are now streaming on Netflix in the UK, Ireland and the US.
