Fans may be slightly disappointed

The return of Game of Thrones is just over a month away. Season eight of the hit show will be its final instalment and will centre around the great war against the white walkers, because, as you may have heard, winter is coming.

The upcoming season will feature the longest battle scene in television history. Basically, it’s going to be epic.

There is also the question of who will end up on the iron throne – the centre of the entire show since its birth – but as Jon Snow will tell you, the war against the dead takes precedent. Although, not in Cersei’s mind.

As excitement builds, fans are clamouring for any taste of new GoT content they can get their hands on. The trailer for season eight is currently on a staggering 42 million views on YouTube.

While the trailer gives us hints of how the story will develop during the final straight, a lot has been made of the length of every episode in the season, with HBO confirming recently that the final two episodes will last 80 minutes each. That’s like two feature films.

And the creators of the show have now announced how long all six episodes will last. The results may leave fans slightly disappointed.

While episodes five and six will indeed last 80 minutes each, the first episode will last 54 minutes.

They will then gradually increase in length. It’s almost as if they’re teasing us, aren’t they? Bastards.
