The Punisher was cancelled by Netflix this week
When Netflix announced that it was cancelling
The Punisher and
Jessica Jones this week, there was an outpouring of disappointment from fans of the Marvel shows.
Their cancellations followed those of
Luke Cage,
Daredevil,
The Defenders and
Iron Fist.
“Marvel’s The Punisher will not return for a third season on Netflix," confirmed Netflix via a statement to Deadline.
"Showrunner Steve Lightfoot, the terrific crew, and exceptional cast including star Jon Bernthal, delivered an acclaimed and compelling series for fans, and we are proud to showcase their work on Netflix for years to come."
Among those who were angry about the cancellation, the most notable was rapper Eminem, who took to his Twitter account to send an angry, all caps message to Netflix.
"Dear Netflix,
Regarding your cancellation of The Punisher,
You are blowing it!!
Sincerely,
Marshall"
It was widely shared, understandably, with many people presumably finding it simply funny rather than looking into it further.

This isn't just another story of a middle aged man getting way too emotional about a comic book though, because the rapper actually has previous with
The Punisher.
In 2009, Eminem starred alongside Frank Castle in the solitary issue of Eminem/Punisher, a comic which came free with an issue of the music magazine XXL.
We cannot say whether it was any good or not.

Will Eminem's intervention make any difference to Netflix's decision to cancel the show? No. But at least you all now know that Eminem once featured in a comic book.
