David Letterman’s new Netflix talk show has a pretty incredible first guest

Rory Cashin

The first episode will be available next week.

One of the greatest talk show hosts of all time, David Letterman retired from his gig on Late Show back in 2015.

There had been whispers, rumours and, eventually, straight up confirmation that he would be returning to the world of chat shows before long, and now we know that Netflix will be releasing the 6-part, 60-minute each episode show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction in just a few days.

Letterman could get pretty much anyone he wanted on to his show, and to that length, it appears that he has done exactly that, as his very first guest will the source of much jealousy for other late night chat show hosts.

As per the official statement regarding that first guest:

President Barack Obama will be Letterman’s first guest […] and the interview will serve as Obama’s first television talk show appearance since leaving office.

Yep, Obama will be chatting to Letterman for an hour, and we can only imagine what topics they will get round to covering in that time.

Other confirmed guests include George Clooney, Jay-Z, Malala Yousafzai, Tina Fey, and Howard Stern.

The first episode will be available on Netflix from Friday 12 January, and each of the new episodes will be released once per month after that.
