There's romance in the air

Corrie's Liz McDonald is set for a new love interest in the coming weeks as new character, Mike Thornberry arrives on the cobbles with romance on his mind. Mike is played by Louis Emerick, the most diligent of diligent soap fans might remember him as Mick Johnson in Brookside. Today, Louis shared a sneak peek of his arrival on set. He's hanging with co-star, Beverley Callard outside Weatherfield's most popular watering hole, The Rovers Return, potentially after the pair's first Tinder date. https://twitter.com/thelouisemerick/status/965562481266561024?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw Although Mike isn't going to appear on screen for another month, March 26 to be exact, he's been tweeting about his new role. https://twitter.com/Beverleycallard/status/965658782503178240?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw   According to reports, the new Corrie cast member is the old schoolteacher of Liz's son Steve and there's sure to be drama, all the drama, once he finds out that Mike wants to date his mum. Nothing like an old school bit of patriarchy. Speaking previously about his arrival on the soap, Mike said:
"I am chuffed to bits to be joining the cast of Corrie. I first appeared in the show in 1986 as a delivery man – it’s only taken 32 years to be invited back! "I can’t wait to start working alongside Simon (Gregson aka Steve) and Beverley, who I have known for years. It’s going to be a lot of fun".
