Coronation Street’s most notorious killer to return to the street in shock comeback

Kyle Picknell

Which now, clearly, will not be that shocking.

Coronation Street boss Kate Oates has revealed a series of spoilers in the build-up to spring in Weatherfield, including the news that the series’ will be bringing back Richard Hillman to the cobbles.

Well, kind of.

He will be returning via a psychic medium to send messages to his wife, Gail Platt. Oooooooo. Spooky.

After all, his death was pretty absolute. He can’t actually come back. He drove into a canal and drowned. That’s pretty final. Even soap writers can’t work their way around that one.

Oates has also revealed that serial killer Pat Phelan will be meeting his timely end at some point in the new series, stating that “a character like Pat Phelan was always going to go out with a bang rather than a whimper, and the exit we have in store for him will definitely pack a punch.”

It’s all very exciting. Almost too exciting too bear. Almost too exciting to actually tune in and physically watch.

Elsewhere there is the storyline concerning David Platt’s sexual assault by the new guy on the cobbles’ block Josh Tucker, and apparently someone called Tyrone cheats on someone called Fizz.

It appears nothing good ever happens in this place, ever.
