Coronation Street viewers were blown away by last night’s heartbreaking episode

So heartbreaking. It will win every award going.

Cassie Delaney

What an emotional performance.

Last night the climax of the harrowing story of Michelle’s miscarriage touched many viewers. The plot line is even more upsetting given the fact actress Kym Marsh suffered a miscarriage during her own pregnancy.

Speaking to OK!, Kym said that she decided to film the scenes to “honour” her own son Archie who she lost at a similar stage of pregnancy a number of years ago.

Kym says that producer Kate Oates first approached her about the storyline.

“She invited me to go home and speak about it with my mum and children. My mum asked me to go with my gut instinct and I said that my gut instinct is to do this and she said ‘why?”

“I said because I’ve always tried to do my bit for charities that fund research or that try to help people to discuss and talk and heal around baby loss and I felt what better way to raise awareness of this subject and to help people in some way.

That was one of the reasons, in the hope that that mighty happen and also to honour my son to be quite frank,” said Kym.

“When you lose a baby it’s something that never ever leaves you, it’s something that you have to deal with and something that you learn to accept and learning to accept what’s happened to you is something that comes from talking,” continued the actress.

Viewers were incredibly touched and have taken to Twitter to praise Kym for her performance.

Speaking about the scenes Kym revealed that she was proud of what they have already accomplished.

“This subject has been very taboo for far too long and people should share because sharing is imperative if your trying to put the pieces of your jigsaw back together somehow. And that’s what I’m hoping people may gain from this. I’m glad that we’ve done it.”
