After he cut ties with his family

After their eldest son Brooklyn featured in the ad for delivery service DoorDash, David and Victoria Beckham have been left upset, according to reports.

In the advert, as he’s seen smirking, Brooklyn says: “You’re probably wondering why I’m watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home… It’s a long story”.

Brooklyn, 27, cut ties with his family over a year ago following a rift.

In the ad, he is seen throwing down his football tickets onto a coffee table with a pile of unopened letters, a camera, and a luxury watch thought to be a gift from his dad.

“It’s complicated. More soon”, it then says in the text which appears in the ad.

DoorDash commented on the video which quickly went viral, adding that: “We have a guess on why you’re watching from home…”

Meanhile, Andy Barr, Head of Brand Communications at Season One Comms, said it could be the “beginning of the end for Brand Brooklyn”.

“DoorDash may have enjoyed a spike in brand mentions because of this, but will now be nervous that longer‑term brand recall could become associated with something negative and exploitative of a truly sad family situation”, he told the Daily Mail.

“Victoria and David are up there with the A‑list elite, both in consumers’ hearts and, more importantly, in brand deal terms. Throughout all of this the pair have acted with the kind of dignity and compassion you would expect from globally renowned superstars.”

The family are stunned by the ad

According to reports, Brooklyn’s estranged family has been left stunned by the ad.

His dad David, 51, is a Three Lions legend who appeared in three FIFA World Cups: in 1998, 2002 and 2006.

Currently, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder is in the US promoting the World Cup and was seen watching America’s opening match alongside Hollywood star Tom Cruise.

A source told Metro: “No one could have predicted he would do something like this. Monetising this situation will be heartbreaking for David and Victoria, especially after his dig at “Brand Beckham” in his statement”.

Meanwhile, another source told The Sun: “To do an ad based on estrangement from family as if it’s a joke when his family is devastated and sister and grandparents are inconsolable.”

“It just seems a tad hypocritical from someone claiming to want peace and privacy and the trying to cash in on it all.”

“He says he wants nothing to do with his family, but is now trading off them by using one of his footballing father’s legacies – the World Cup – as an advertising selling point.”

“Brooklyn is absolutely entitled to go and make his own money – his parents laud such ambition – but taking the mick out of a deep-rooted, heartbreaking family situation is not the one.”

How it all started earlier this year

In January this year, Brooklyn posted an 800-word statement on Instagram, as he accused his parents of trying to control his life and of trying to sabotage his relationship with his wife Nicola Peltz.

“I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life. For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family”, he wrote at the time.

Brookyln even accused his parents of placing “countless lies” in the media to protect their media, in the explosive statement.

He said that his mum, Victoria, danced “very inappropriately on me in front of everyone”.

“The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into. Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they'll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out”, he wrote.
