The late-2000s Channel 4 series, which followed four hapless sixth-formers through the everyday indignities of British teenage life, became a cultural phenomenon and spawned two hit spin-off films. Final deals for the cast are yet to be signed, but the streamer's involvement marks the clearest sign yet of a comeback.

What the Inbetweeners reunion means

The news comes less than a year after rights holders Banijay U.K. revealed a deal with creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley and their Fudge Park Productions, which the company said at the time "paves the way for the return of the hit comedy title." Until now, it was unknown in what form, and on which platform, that return would take shape.

Netflix has not commented publicly on casting. In the meantime, fans can relive the awkwardness by testing which Inbetweeners character you are while they wait for the reunion to be formally confirmed.
