The Walking Dead Lands $500m Netflix Deal

The Walking Dead lives on

The Walking Dead has signed a $500m (roughly £372m) licensing deal that will keep the zombie franchise streaming on Netflix and, for the first time, AMC+ for five years from 2027. The agreement covers the flagship AMC series plus its six spin-offs — 371 episodes in total.

Based on Robert Kirkman's comic, the show ran from 2010 to its 2022 finale but has remained a streaming juggernaut, as Screen Rant reported via Variety. The deal takes in Fear the Walking Dead, Daryl Dixon, The Ones Who Live, Dead City, World Beyond and Tales of the Walking Dead, and will expand the franchise's reach into the UK, Italy, Australia and New Zealand.

In the US, Netflix has been the series' exclusive streaming home since 2011, so the tie-up marks the first time the show will also sit on AMC+. Titles will roll out on staggered dates through 2027 depending on region — a reminder of how much life a franchise can have long after its finale, the same catalogue appeal that keeps films like Martin Scorsese’s latest gangster thriller finding new audiences on the platform.
