A 17-year-old girl has died at the Kendal Calling festival in Cumbria, police have confirmed.
The teenager suffered a medical episode at around 02:15 BST on Sunday and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Cumbria Police, who said her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers, as BBC News first reported.
Officers said they are looking into the circumstances and want to speak to anyone who was near the Calling Out tent and the Big Wheel around the time of the girl’s death.
A police spokesperson said they were "particularly keen to speak with a group of women who alerted first responders to the girl after becoming concerned for her welfare."
The festival, near Penrith, draws tens of thousands of people each year.
A Kendal Calling spokesperson said the event team was supporting authorities with their investigation and was "deeply saddened" by the death.
"As soon as the individual became unwell, they were immediately attended to by our on-site security and medical teams," they said.
"Paramedics and medical personnel provided emergency care at the scene and did everything they could to help."
