Are The Stone Roses about to release their first new music since 1994?

The Internet had better not be lying to us.

Rumours are circulating that The Stone Roses are about to release their first new music since The Second Coming in 1994.

Speculation started when Guardian writer Ben Green tweeted the less than cryptic ‘SR040316,’ before promptly deleting it.

The possibility remains that the band is simply releasing a live album from 2012, but dontstopforum.co.uk has a far more interesting piece of news all the way from New Zealand.

User thekingdomsallinside wrote: ‘hi guys, my first post but one i thought worth sharing. My lovely wife went into REAL GROOVY [Auckland’s largest record store] on Monday and asked the guy behind the desk when the new roses album was out,the English guy replied he didn’t know there was one, then checked his computer and said, you’re right, it’s out on Friday in UK then we should get it a week or so later in NZ.’

We’ll hardly take this as gospel, but please let it be true.
