Adidas have announced six GoT designs

If it wasn’t already obvious to you that there’s quite a lot of excitement building about Game of Thrones, perhaps this – the news that it’s now reached a point where it’s inspiring special collections of Adidas trainers – will spell it out for you.

The final season of the hit HBO show is due to air in April, with fans of the show finally getting to see the first trailers for it last month.

Ahead of the first episode hitting our screens, it’s been announced earlier in the week that Adidas Running will release a new collection of limited-edition Ultraboost running shoes in collaboration with GoT.

In total, there will be six designs – each one inspired by the locations and characters of Westeros, including the House of Stark, Lannister, and Targaryen. The Night’s Watch also get their own shoe, as do the White Walkers.

“Collaborations with franchises like Game of Thrones are part of our DNA,” said Alberto Uncini Manganelli, General Manager of Adidas Running. “When brands and television series alike are able to move beyond their primary platform and spill into popular culture, we see inspiration.”

The trainers are expected to be released on March 22, though a preview is available of them on the Adidas website, where they are priced at £149.95 per pair.

Away from trainer collaborations, the trailer for the new GoT season has smashed records, being viewed more than 81 million times across all platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram in the first 24 hours after its release.

That breaks the record previously held by season seven of the show, which racked up 61 million views in a single day after hitting the internet.
