An actor has posted an emotional video about her heartbreak over the death of US rapper and actor DMX – who passed away almost 18 months ago.

DMX, real-name is Earl Simmons, died on 9 April 2021, aged 50, after losing functionally in multiple essential organs.

It was confirmed in July that year that DMX died due to a cocaine-induced heart attack.

In a TikTok video, Clueless actor Stacey Dash said she was unaware of the rapper’s death and was shocked when she learned about it.

One commenter joked under the video: “Is this the trailer for Clueless 2?”

In an Instagram post on 31 August, Dash wrote: “I was strolling through #tiktok and found a #DMX song that has saved me many times. “Suddenly it says #RIP I know I am late, I did not know he passed away, he #OD I am heartbroken – he was such a great guy.”

Dash – who has previously opened up about her past drug addiction – apologised to her followers that she was unaware of DMX’s death, saying: “I didn’t know DMX died; I didn’t know (it was) from a cocaine overdose.”

The actor then talked about her own battle against drugs and made an emotional plea to her followers not to lose the fight.

“I am today, six years and one month clean and it breaks my heart. It breaks my heart that he lost to it. He lost. He lost to that demon of addiction. Please, please don’t lose,” she said.

While many fans were somewhat bemused by Dash’s post, asking “is this a joke” and requesting that she delete it, many have also been supportive.

“You’re inspiring me to continue trying to be fully sober fyi. No pressure literally but saying so because thank you for uplifting others by uplifting yourself,” one comment reads.

Another says: “Leave her alone. She has been very open about her pill addiction. Clearly, she’s triggered by something and dealing with stuff. We love Stacey.”

Dash spoke about her drug addiction in an episode of the Dr. Oz Show last October, saying that at one stage it got so bad she was taking “18 to 20 pills a day”.

She also told how she first tried drugs aged eight and attempted suicide at 17. Her life was saved as her friend rushed her to hospital.
