Long-serving staff members are put in even better stead, as their hourly rate increases to £11.40 outside of the capital and £12.25 for those working within London.
This announcement sees a six per cent raise for over 20,000 Lidl staff members across the UK.
The supermarket said the change is in recognition of the hard work of staff during the pandemic, while also stating they are now the highest-paying supermarket in the UK.
This news follows a £200 bonus to all frontline workers this year, alongside £150 gift vouchers during the height of the pandemic in 2020.
"At Lidl, our frontline colleagues are the backbone of our business," supermarket chief executive Christian Härtnagel said in a statement.
"They have worked tirelessly over the past 18 months of the Covid-19 crisis and are integral to our future success.
"We have ambitious plans to grow our business across Great Britain, and to do that we need to ensure we attract and look after the best talent at every level of our business.
"This year we feel incredibly lucky to be in a position as a business to go even further by making this significant investment in our incredible workforce, which will make us the best paying supermarket in the UK."
People have begun reacting to the news online, but most people are not as celebratory as you might think.
"Easy when you only have 1 till open," wrote one Twitter user.
