Zlatan Ibrahimović retired from international football after Euro 2016, but a return has never felt too far away.

Sweden qualified without him, finishing second behind France in the qualifying group and beating Italy over two legs in the play-off.

Zlatan celebrated his nation's achievement with a tweet that only he could have sent, despite having not played a minute in the qualifying campaign.

As many of us were expecting, he has recently hinted that a return to the Sweden side could be on the horizon, claiming that the opportunity is there if he wants to take it.

"If I feel well, capable of giving what I can, the door will always be open. If I want to I’ll be there, if not no," he told the official MLS website.

"I want to play football, we’ll see what happens. They call me every day, they ask me how am I doing, but we need to take a step at a time. I repeat if I feel well and if I want to, I’ll be there", he added.

Having been released by Manchester United in the past week, Ibrahimović has signed for LA Galaxy, and announced the transfer in the most Zlatan way possible.
