A football match in Ecuador came to a bizarre halt on Sunday after a player was ran over by a medical cart that had been transferring a teammate from the pitch.
The bizarre incident occurred during a match between LDU Portoviejo and El Nacional in Liga Pro Serie B, Ecuador‘s second tier.
Portoviejo player Edison Caicedo was struck by a golf buggy-style vehicle that was being used to stretcher off injured another of the club's players.
Caicedo inadvertently strayed into the path of the vehicle while speaking to a pitch-side positioned coach, and with the cart unable to swerve out of the way in time, Caicedo was struck off his feet.
The 36-year-old then appeared to be in some discomfort, rolling around on the floor and appearing to clutch his lower leg.
