Raul Jimenez confirms rumours of Man Utd transfer approach

United were interested in the Mexican after all

It's little secret now that Manchester United's summer transfer window didn't exactly go to plan. Of the primary targets identified by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the club's board failed to land any. Donny van de Beek was signed from Ajax, but the rest of United's business was concluded on deadline day, with the free signing of Edinson Cavani the most high-profile of their four eleventh-hour arrivals. In between all that, United were linked with a host of different names - one of which, you may recall, was Wolves striker Raul Jimenez. Any United move for the Mexican did, of course, fail to materialise, and would probably have been dismissed as mere speculation by most who read it at the time. But according to Jimenez himself, there was substance to the rumour. Speaking to TUDN, the 29-year-old revealed that United and Juventus both made approaches for him, though neither club came close to reaching an agreement to take him away from Molineux. "One day I woke up and Juventus wanted me, another Manchester United and what I know is that there were approaches made. "But an agreement was never reached and nothing was close. I'm very happy at Wolves. "The truth is I am very happy in Wolverhampton. "It's never wrong to be in a place where you are well but they know that I am not satisfied [with my form], I always look for more." United have again been linked with a move for Cristiano Ronaldo this week, after it was reported Juventus were open to selling him if they fall short of winning the Champions League again this season. Ronaldo has been linked with a return to Old Trafford since leaving for Real Madrid in 2009, though Troy Deeney suggests a move to Wolves - who have plenty of Portuguese links as it is - may be a better fit for the multi-Ballon d'Or winner.
