Pep Guardiola ‘tells friends he fancies England manager job’ under right conditions

Guardiola left his role Man City manager at the end of the 2025/26 season.

The Catalan manager has spent the last two decades winning everything in club management with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and the Citizens.

But now on the back of a seamless career in club football, rumours are circling that the 55-year-old may be interested in moving to an international side, in order to secure the one title that has so far been unavailable to him: The World Cup.

The journalist Jack Gaughan, speaking on Sky Sports, has explained that although the club's trophy parade through Manchester, and following speeches by Guardiola and others, on Sunday may have seemed as though they were building up towards "retirement," this should not rule out the possibility of a return to the biggest stage for Guardiola, under the right conditions.

Gaughan added: "He has told friends that he fancies managing England in the future, so if things were to align that would be something to look out for."

For the time being, Thomas Tuchel is still under contract as Three Lions manager and so any potential move for Guardiola would have to come at the end of the German's time in charge.

It remains to be seen if that possibility arises.
