Liverpool are planning two victory parades for Premier League and Champions League

Because one victory parade is never enough...

Liverpool have made plans for two separate victory parades in the city should they win the Premier League and the Champions League in the weeks ahead. Jürgen Klopp's side will become champions of England for the first time in 29 years if they win their game against Wolves and Manchester City fail to win their final game of the season away at Brighton. After their miraculous comeback against Barcelona on Tuesday night, they will also contest the Champions League final with Tottenham in Madrid next month. If they do win the league this weekend they will celebrate with an open top bus parade the next day - Monday 13 May. Champions League glory will see them hold a similar parade on June 2. Both parades, should they go ahead, will begin at 4pm.

"Whichever team you support, there is no doubting the positive impact sporting success for each of our clubs has on the city, not just economically but also in terms of a feel-good factor," Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson told the Liverpool Echo

"It rightly generates huge pride and attracts massive international attention.

"If the Reds win one or two trophies, they will receive a well-deserved heroes' welcome and we will put on a show to make the city proud."

Liverpool's title challenge was  dealt a blow on Monday evening when City overcame Leicester thanks to Vincent Kompany's long-range winner. The Foxes remained in the contest until the end and should have equalised through substitute Kelechi Iheanacho in the closing stages. 24 hours later, Klopp's men turned in a stunning performance to overcome Barca's three-goal advantage from the first leg of their Champions League semi-final, reaching the competition's final for the second year in succession.
