‘Classless and the fans need to realise’
Jesse Lingard’s brother has launched a scathing attack on Manchester United for denying the forward a farewell appearance in what would have been his final game for the club at Old Trafford.
Lingard, whose contract expires in the summer, is one of several members of United’s first team squad set to depart before next season.
While Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic started the 3-0 win over Brentford on Monday and were later given ovations from the crowd when substituted, Lingard remained on the United bench for the duration of the game.

In a post to his Instagram, Lingard’s brother, Louie Scott, described the club as ‘classless’, attacking their owners.
’20 years of blood sweat and tears, 4 domestic trophies, 3 cup final goals,’ the post began.
‘Not even a farewell. No wonder it’s Conference League next year.
‘Attacking players for celebrations when the club’s being sold to the Super League OK.
‘Class of 92, Busby Babes – you’re ran by people who don’t even know the offside trap.
‘Classless and the fans need to realise.’

More Glazer protests
The Glazer family, who have again drawn criticism from supporters in recent week, were the subject of more protests before and during the game.
A year after fans stormed Old Trafford in the wake of the Super League collapse, The 1958 group have led two prematch protest marches against the Glazers and also urged supporters to stage a walk out during the Brentford game.
The vast majority of supporters remained in their seats but anti-Glazer songs were heard throughout the game.

Lingard future away from Old Trafford
Lingard is expected to have several offers at the end of the season. The 29-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell with West Ham during the second half of last season with the London club thought to be an option for him in the summer.
