Cristiano Ronaldo has learnt his punishment from the Portuguese Football Federation over the sensational decision to walk out of his nation's Nations League camp early this month.
The 41-year-old accused Portugal manager Jorge Jesus of going back on his word regarding his role in the squad, after being left as an unused substitute against Norway.
The disagreement is said to have prompted Ronaldo to leave Portugal’s training camp with immediate effect ahead of their next fixture against Denmark.
Ronaldo was then charged by the Portugal FA under Article 160(1) of the federation’s disciplinary regulations. This charge has now been upheld.
Following their decision to uphold the fine, the body also confirmed Ronaldo's punishment.
The Al-Nassr forward will serve a 30-day suspension and has been fined €255 (£215).
It is currently unclear which matches the suspension would cover, or whether time already served under a provisional suspension would count towards the 30-day sanction.
Considering the current tension between Ronaldo and manager Jorge Jesus, it is also still unconfirmed as to whether the player will return to international action at the next opportunity.
The section of Cristiano Ronaldo's punishment that has attracted the most attention has been the fine imposed on him, of £215.
Supporters posting on the social media site X, expressed their immediate surprise at how little the multi-millionaire footballer has been ordered to pay.
One fan calculated, that based on his current wages, Ronaldo would have to work for just "38 seconds" to pay off the fine.
Another questioned: "I think you’re forgetting the “K” after that amount."
Some supporters have even suggested they would have the means to "pay for him."
One fan described the entire situation as "silly."
Regardless, the biggest question that remains is whether Ronaldo can repair his relationship with Jorge Jesus and resume his international career under the Portugal manager.
This is sure to be decided before the head coach names his next squad for the round of fixtures next month.
