Jurgen Klopp considering massive goalkeeping gamble ahead of the new season

Jurgen Klopp is prepared to put his faith in youth by offloading Liverpool's top two goalkeepers last season.

Loris Karius secured the No 1 spot at Anfield last term while Simon Mignolet acted as deputy but the struggles of both have been highly publicised. Karius made two horrific errors in Liverpool's Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in May and he appeared to be struggling for confidence when he returned for preseason training last month, dropping multiple clangers which reportedly prompted the Reds to agree to part ways with £67 million for Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker. Liverpool supporters had worked out what Klopp should do with his remaining 'keepers as they recommended loaning out Karius, selling Mignolet and promoting Danny Ward to No 2. https://twitter.com/JOE_co_uk/status/1019577288168357889 But Ward has since been sold to Leicester and he's not the only stopper with whom Klopp is happy to part ways this summer. The Telegraph reports that Liverpool are prepared to sell both Karius and Mignolet in the current transfer window. Klopp has reportedly been so impressed with the preseason performances of young goalkeepers Kamil Grabara and Caoimhin Kelleher that he is open to the idea of letting the 19-year-olds compete to be second-choice goalkeeper next season. It would represent a massive risk considering the fact that one injury to Alisson would thrust a teenager into the spotlight but Klopp has never been afraid to throw his backing behind young players. Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Mignolet while Bayer Leverkusen apparently view Karius as a potential replacement for Bernd Leno, who moved to Arsenal this summer. Karius cast doubt over his Liverpool future by admitting that he could well be forced to move in the transfer window. "Of course that's not perfect for me, but I cannot say much more about that either," Karius said after the arrival of Alisson. "I do not know that. "I cannot say what I'm doing right now, there's still some time left."
