Gareth Bale scares tourists by posing as Madame Tussauds waxwork

This is Gareth Bale, but not exactly as we know him

Gareth Bale is a player known all over the world. From his humble beginnings as a promising player at Southampton, to his eventual domination at Tottenham, all of this has led to him being a vital cog at Real Madrid, as well as becoming a driving force behind his country’s most successful era on the football pitch.

But while we know Gareth Bale the footballer, few of us know much about Gareth Bale the person. Thankfully that all changes in YouTube’s exclusive new series Training Days with Jack Whitehall.

As such, there are certain situations in which you don’t necessarily expect to see Mr. Bale. These situations include, but are not exclusive to, appearing on the Eurovision, hosting a children’s television show on Welsh television and standing for local elections. These are just off the top of my head.

Appearing on Training Days, Gareth shows the comedian around Madrid, taking him to his local driving range and hitting a few off the tee. He’s clearly comfortable, in his element. He’s having fun.

That changes slightly – and this is where the aforementioned “situations” come in – as the two walk around for a little while, appreciating the various famous figures inside of Madame Tussauds, including Bale’s Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. And yes, the waxwork actually looks like him.

Just as Gareth is beginning to relax, Jack reveals the reason for their visit: to pose as a waxwork and absolutely terrify tourists who have visited the building to catch a glimpse of their heroes in very-close-to-human form.

What follows is beautiful. It’s poetry. It’s members of the public not knowing whether to run away, call Ghostbusters or punch a world famous footballer in the face.

While static is usually the last word a footballer wants used to describe his performance, in this case it’s the sign of a job well done by Gareth Bale.
