Arsenal are lining up what could prove to be one of the most ambitious moves of the January transfer window as they target a move for Victor Osimhen.
The Gunners enter the international break joint-top of the Premier League following their 1-0 win against Manchester City last weekend.
With the help of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah Mikel Arteta's side pose a threat when going forward but the pair have been guilty of missing chances aplenty.
Keen to avoid a repeat of last season's title race, in which Arsenal fell away at the final hurdle, Arteta is reportedly keen to bring Osimhen to the Emirates Stadium to score the goal necessary to win a first league trophy since 2004.
Osimhen has less than two years on his contract however his future at the Serie A champions is up in the air after the club posted a series of TikTok videos mocking the Nigerian.
Regardless of his future, Osimhen is unlikely to be sold on the cheap, with Italian outlet Il Mattino claiming that Napoli won't listen to any offers below £150m.
Arteta however has a back up plan and according to Football Italia, will offer Gabriel Jesus as part of a swap deal. They say that "Napoli have identified Jesus as one of their three targets to replace Osimhen should the star striker depart, opening the door to a possible swap deal in January".
Chelsea are also one of the clubs allegedly interested in Osimhen. Both London clubs also share an interest in Brentford's sought-after talisman, Ivan Toney.
Like Napoli, the Bees want to keep hold of their main man and have slapped an £80m asking price on the one-time England international.
