Fans all say the same thing about Kylian Mbappé after Newcastle thrash PSG

Another Champions League disasterclass for Mbappé and PSG

Football fans have been asking themselves what on earth Kylian Mbappe is still doing at PSG after the club suffered its latest Champions League disaster, this time at the hands of Newcastle.

On Wednesday night, Newcastle tore apart a meek PSG side as they claimed their first Champions League victory in more than 20 years.

First half goals from Miguel Almirón and Dan Burn put the Magpies 2-0 up at the break, with Sean Longstaff adding a third shortly after half time.

Although Lucas Hernandez’s header pulled one back for the French side, they never looked like completing a comeback and Fabian Schar’ stoppage time stunner was a deserved fourth for the North-east side.

The result was the latest Champions League disappointment for PSG and their star man Kylian Mbappé, who joined the Parisiens in 2017.

Since then, the club have only managed to make it past the last 16 stage of the tournament twice. With league titles a formality for the club thanks to their Qatari riches dwarfing the finances of every other side in the French league, European success is what the club – and Mbappé – crave more than anything else.

The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with Champions League masters Real Madrid in the last couple of years, and after watching the PSG disasterclass at St James’ Park, many fans were left wondering what Mbappé was still doing at the club – and whether he was at risk of leaving a move too late.

One fan wrote: “Kylian Mbappé still playing at PSG and Ligue 1 at the age of 25 is very sad to see. A player with his talent shouldn’t be spending 9 seasons there.”

Another said: “Kylian Mbappé is turning 25 in two months. How on earth is he still playing for this club?”

A third commented: “Mbappe is going to be 25 in a few months and he’s still at PSG, this guy is wasting his talent man.”

Someone else asked: “Why is Kylian Mbappé almost 25 and still playing for PSG?”

The result leaves Newcastle top of their Champions League group with four points from their first two games. PSG sit in second on three points, with AC Milan in third on two points and Borussia Dortmund in last on one point.
