He could finally move this summer

The prospect of Eden Hazard moving to Real Madrid has been in the works for a few years now. Madrid’s admiration for Hazard is no secret, and nor is Hazard’s inclination to move to the Bernabeu.

But the Chelsea man has been waiting for the right moment, which could be this summer, as it has been revealed that the player’s father offered the services of Hazard to Real Madrid before the Champions League final in May, according to MARCA.

Eden’s father Thierry reportedly explained to Real Madrid that contract talks with Chelsea had been put on hold in case Madrid were interested in signing the playmaker this summer.

Hazard is now 27 and is keen to play Champions League football, which he won’t be able to do at Chelsea next season after they finished fifth in the Premier League.

“Real Madrid could interest me, everyone knows it, if they want me they know what they have to do,” he said to L’Equipe.

“If I have a good World Cup, things will be easier, but going to Madrid for the sake of it, no.

“Saying ‘I’m off’ would be too easy, that’s why first I want to see what happens to Chelsea next season.”

Losing Hazard would be the worst possible scenario this summer for Chelsea, as they find themselves in a transition period, needing to keep hold of their best players.

Real Madrid’s prime target is Neymar, but Hazard appears to be a much more achievable and affordable signing for them. With Cristiano Ronaldo moving more central, Hazard would be able to play from his favoured left-wing position.
