Belgian authorities charge man over “terrorist attacks”

Tom Victor

Authorities in Belgium have confirmed that a man has been arrested and charged over “terrorist attacks”.

While the individual has not been named, prosecutors note that the arrest took place in capital city Brussels and various sources claim the charges relate to the Paris attacks.

Brussels was on lockdown last weekend, with armed forces taking to the streets after precise information was received regarding a supposed terrorist threat.

The latest arrest is the sixth to be made in connection with the Paris attacks, in which more than 130 people were killed.

A number of the Paris suspects, including alleged mastermind Abdelhamid Abaaoud and fugitive Salah Abdeslam, are Belgian citizens or residents.
